Sometimes we are so busy in this life we take the simple things for granted.

Sometimes we expect too much from others and ourselves.

Take one moment a day to reflect on the past, present and future.

Ask yourself:

What needs "fixing" in my life?  Relationships are probably the first thing that comes to mind.

Is your job or lack of one causing you to feel insecure?

Are you doing what you love or are you wishing you were fulfilling a lifelong desire?

Whether your job is what you love or your hobby is what you do to unwind, do whatever it is that brings you peace and joy.

What do you need to do to get back on track in the areas you are feeling disconnected, disappointed or at odds with?

I heard somewhere if it is more than 24 hours old it is the past, so let it go.  That is so true, but we usually can't let the past go that easily.

Finding ways to live well in spite of our problems and disappointments can be a challenge in itself.

Forgive yourself, forgive others, open your heart and learn to accept what you cannot change without betraying yourself, your beliefs or your loved ones.

Many sites offer the history of Reiki and so do most of the books and other literature available at stores and online.

Although it is important to learn about Usui Mikao and how this wonderful gift of healing began, I prefer not to repeat that information here.

Instead it is my intent to bring you as much information regarding alternative healing modalities as possible.

To read more about the history, please follow links  in the site which will open in new windows for your convenience.

Please note that there are numerous books and websites that may not have reliable information.  Remember to research any healer or healing modality before assuming anything is fact.

Reiki is a safe, non invasive,  treatment that may relieve emotional, physical pain or anxiety.

Once you have been attuned it can be passed on to others.  It is the intent to heal that makes Reiki work.

Meditation has been proven as a means to heal oneself. In saying this, Reiki is universal and heals what needs to be healed.

Focusing on your problems, be it health or manifestation of goals it can have a major effect on your general well being.

Reiki is a complementary healing technique that can bring great joy and healing to anyone in many different ways.

Treatment by a Reiki practitioner may involve the "laying on of hands" but is effective not touching the client at all.

Self treatment has many benefits and once learned it can help you create a pleasant, healthful, more satisfying life.

There are many web sites today that claim Reiki cures every ailment known to man.   Be wary of  unrealistic claims and costly information.

Reiki is not a cure and is not a substitute for medical treatment.

It is, however, an extremely useful tool that complements  treatments and helps the body to recover from many ailments while being treated by your Physician, Homeopath, Naturalpath, Naprapath, etc.

A Reiki Practitioner is a channel where Reiki Energy can flow through to the areas in need of healing.

Reiki healing is sometimes dramatic due to the inner desire of the client to be healed.

It may take several treatments to get the body to release the symptoms and begin healing.

Instead of reaching for a pill at the first sign of pain, using Reiki energy will, often times, relieve the symptoms so your dependence on medications may be reduced over time.

Reiki can lessen the severity of your symptoms or completely relieve them.

This does not mean you can stop your medications or medical treatments.  On the contrary!  It is extremely important to use Reiki as an aid to healing the body, mind and spirit.

Always follow your doctor's advice and treatments using Reiki in addition to the medical treatments prescribed by your medical or Holistic professional.

Be sure to discuss any alternative treatments, therapies or supplements with your health professional.

Certain drugs and natural supplements can have an adverse affect on your health.  Be sure that any self treatment will complement your treatment and not make it worse.

It is especially important to tell your doctors about vitamin and mineral supplements which may interact with a pharmaceutical drug.

Some treatments, such as Chemotherapy, may require you to omit all supplements during treatment but can be resumed once you are in recovery when approved by your physician.

Not all physicians or medical professionals know about Reiki and what it can do.  Some may not believe in the validity of this type of healing, but the world is changing.  Do not be afraid to discuss it with your health professional.

More clinics, medical treatment centers and hospitals are offering Reiki treatments as they do Tai Chi or Qi Gong, massage therapy and support groups.

You know your body better than anyone else.  It is up to you to be your own health advocate.

Above all else, learn as much as you can about your health problems, disorders and diseases, and then learn how to care for yourself with the help of professionals.

Nutrition plays a large part in your overall health and well being.  We get busy and neglect ourselves then discover we are ill.  When did this happen; we ask ourselves.

It takes time for your body to show signs of neglect.  Take time for yourself every day, eat well, exercise if you are able to do so.

Spiritual health is just as important as physical and emotional health.  Discover your spirit and be who you really are.

It will help to keep a health journal with a list of drugs, supplements, allergies, symptoms, side effects you have experienced or whatever will be helpful when you visit your health care professional.

Always ask for a copy of your test results for your own medical history file which can be an valuable tool when going to a new doctor or clinic.

Giving is one of the most gratifying experiences of a lifetime.  I am not talking about money.  Give someone a helping hand, a kind word, be a friend, a good neighbor.  Give without expectations of getting something in return and you will  be rewarded in many ways.

This web site is my gift to you.  Treat it as a friendly place to go, a place to learn new things, share ideas and experiences.

Love, respect and honor yourself, renew your spirit and live life the best way you can.

Kindest Regards,

NY Hardesty, RMT
